Choose clothes you like and can move comfortably in. You do not need a new outfit or a different style. I’m Valentina, the photographer behind MagicVphotos: these tips will help you prepare for your beach or dunes photoshoot in Gran Canaria.

Choose two or three colours that work together. Cream, sand, soft blue and earthy tones often sit well against the sea and dunes. White works too; for a stronger look, we can use black or a bold colour. There is no required palette.
These are examples. Start with an item you already own and choose the other clothes around it.
Walk, sit and hug someone while wearing your chosen clothes. If you keep having to adjust an item, it may distract you during the session.
Linen, cotton, knitwear and flowing dresses offer different looks. Prioritise the fit and how you feel. Large logos, slogans and tiny or busy patterns can draw attention; if you like them, send me a photo and we can discuss them.
Check light fabrics against the light. If you do not want underwear to show, choose a shade close to your skin tone and check straps and seams with the whole outfit on.
Wear comfortable shoes to reach the location. We can take some barefoot photographs on the sand if the ground and temperature allow. Heels tend to sink; bring them separately so we can consider a suitable surface. A light layer and a hair tie can be useful in the wind.
A flowing dress, a two-piece outfit or fitted clothes can create different looks. Choose according to how you want to show your pregnancy. You do not have to uncover your bump: we can photograph you fully dressed. Avoid clothes that feel tight or uncomfortable. If your partner or children join you, coordinate your colours. Baby shoes, a printed ultrasound scan or baby clothes are welcome.
Explore maternity sessionsCoordinate your colours and a similar level of formality: for example, a dress with a linen shirt, or casual outfits for each of you. You do not need to wear exactly the same colour.
Explore couples sessionsChoose one item first, then build the other outfits around two or three shared colours. You can mix plain fabrics with a subtle pattern. For children, comfort matters more than a perfect outfit: avoid anything itchy, tight or restrictive. Bring a spare set in case they get messy; for very young children, a toy that makes a sound can help catch their attention.
Explore family sessionsChoose an outfit that feels like you and is comfortable to wear. It might be a dress, trousers with a shirt or a more casual look. Think about how you want to use your photographs and choose accessories to suit. If your package allows outfit changes, you can combine two different styles; prepared complete outfits are more useful than lots of loose items.
